Fine Dining: Ithaa Undersea Restaurant

The title of this restaurant has nothing to do with the cuisine.

The dining area is genuinely five meters (fifteen feet) underwater and the transparent walls and roof provide a great 270-degree view into the surrounding aquatic life. Situated on one of the islands of the Maldives, this restaurant was the first of its kind. The intimate space only has seven tables and you’re required to be barefoot on the premises. You can also rent out the restaurant for private events, weddings, and even as an overnight residence! The cuisine centers around local Maldivian flavors with Western influences. Lunch and dinner are both set menus with several delicious courses. Nowadays, there are several other underwater restaurants and venues in the Maldives. But Ithaa holds its place as the best of the bunch.
